Danish company Lego was founded in 1938 as the highly recognisable building block toy brand and went on to open their first Legoland Park in Billund, Denmark followed by another park in Windsor, England. With two more parks in Germany and the USA respectively they now operate 4 parks.
Today we focus on the Windsor Park in England which features large-scale models of landmarks and miniature models of famous cities all constructed from Lego. With Lego themed fun rides and activities for kids and parents alike, these parks are the ideal way to give families a day out or even a short break to remember for ever.
The first thing you notice when you visit the website is that the fun starts right there on the first page. You are presented with a colourful interactive map full of characters that the kids will know and love. Clicking around the map takes you to pictures of the rides along with an idea of what to expect.
For example hovering over one section of the map brings up the Pirate Falls Dynamite Drench. You then click through to a superb picture of the ride accompanied by a warning for guests not to be deceived into thinking that this is "just another leisurely ride". With pirates and a drenching in store this must be totally irresistible for the kids.
Okay so let's try another area on the map. This time we click on the driving school where we find that children aged 6 - 13 after watching a road safety video can drive an electric car around a realistic course with other drivers, traffic lights and roundabouts. They then come away from this ride proudly clutching their very own Legoland driving licence.
Younger visitors are more than catered for, with a whole host of rides and activities for the under fours. The Enchanted Forest is a gentle forest walk where children can spot the Lego animals and Pirates Training Camp is an exciting play and climbing area. Under fours can also operate earth moving diggers, watch the Pirates of Skeleton Bay Stunt Show and even attend Balloon School.
When all of this furious activity has built up an appetite, the menus at the park food outlets have been designed by Annabel Karmel a leading expert and author on nutrition for babies and children.
